Every year, the school puts on a Fundraising Carnival in support of a local PNG non-profit organization. This year, the Student Representative Council selected the YWCA (Young Women’s Christian Association) of Lae as the recipients of the funds and the Carnival was held on October 26th.
Jon and I had the privilege of acting as the adult advisors to the Student Council and it was amazing to watch these students sort through countless details, plan and execute a purchasing trip to Lae to request donations, think through all of the many details leading up to the day and execute a wonderful Carnival on the actual day of the event.
It was no small task and the students did a great job, with the help of many incredible adult sponsors who so willingly gave of their time and talents to help make the day a success.
We don’t have a final number yet for the funds raised for the YWCA but, in the meantime, I thought I would share a few of our kids favourite moments of the day.
There was Balinese food, tacos, outdoor grilling, deep fried Oreos and so much more – including games, a ‘train’ ride, face painting and a kids booth complete with bouncy castle. Lucy’s favourite part was probably the dunk tank as she had the chance to dunk our friend and Jacob’s third grade teacher, Hannah Wheeler 🙂
It was a great day and we were privileged to be a part of the event.
Because of your support – both through your prayers and financial giving – we are able to participate in events like this – working alongside youth. And, more than just helping them plan fun events and accomplish big tasks – it is our heart that we would be here to show them the love of Christ, to encourage them toward following after Him in each and every thing they do – big or small.
Your prayers and your gifts make it possible for us to pour into the lives of students whose hearts God is pursuing through so many more people than just us but we could not be here without your support so thank you and please keep praying for the youth of Ukarumpa.
Thank you!
